About Our Lesson horses

Cody is a 2001 American Paint Horse. He is a horse that can truly do it all, from cross country jumping to teaching a child how to post the trot. Cody was the first Lear Stables lesson horse, and continues to be a valued member of the herd. He began his Eventing career later in life, and really loves what he does.

Achilles is a 2001 welsh cob/thoroughbred cross gelding. Achilles is a talented and bold jumper who is also able to teach riders about having good hands and riding from the seat and legs. He is for our intermediate and advanced riders, although he also loves a leisurely trail ride.

Lilly is a 2003 Percheron Thoroughbred mare. She is a gentle giant with a lengthy eventing background. Her owner is leasing her to our program so that she can teach up-and-coming riders the basics. This mare can do it all, and rides surprisingly light for being a full figured girl.

Tobey is a teen aged paint horse who has a diverse background, from western to trail riding to eventing. His smooth gaits and lightness to the aids make him a fun and comfortable ride. He loves to go out on the trails!

Olive is a 2000 hannoverian/thoroughbred mare who is truly a delight. comfortable, flowy gaits, cuddly in-your-pocket personality, steady but still sensitive enough to keep you interested. This gorgeous mare is on a long term lease to our program after stepping down from more rigorous jumping. We are lucky to have her here!

Warmblood Cross
Rufus is a senior citizen, measuring 12 hands high. We don’t know much about Rufus but we estimate that he is a welsh cross that may be as old as 40. Rufus is a plucky little pony who is never afraid to express his opinion! He loves his lead line riders, but can still get going over some crossrails when he puts his mind to it.

Welsh Cross
Opie is a 2011 thoroughbred gelding. Opie is a big, bold jumper who is brave to fences and green but pleasant on the flat. Although he is still refining his skills, his kind and willing temperament has made him suitable for more advanced riders looking for a fun challenge.

Bree is a 2001 Quarter horse cross who is owned by a Lear Stables student who is gracious enough to share her with us a couple days a week. This adorable horse has enough substance to take up a longer leg, but a small height to accomodate smaller riders with ease. A seasoned camp and eventing pony, Bree is very well loved.
